Laura Maharaj has over eight years of experience in geology and hydrogeology. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Geology and her Master of Science in Hydrogeology at McGill University and is a member of Professional Geoscientists Ontario and the International Association of Hydrogeologists.
Ms. Maharaj worked as a geological contractor and then specialized in the field of Hydrogeology, completing her Masters in the Peruvian Andes and working as a hydrogeological consultant throughout Canada.
She is currently lead hydrogeologist at Groundwater Environmental Management Services Inc. (GEMS), conducting groundwater assessments for construction dewatering, land development approvals, and existing buildings. Ms. Maharaj negotiates short- and long-term discharge agreements in municipalities across the GTA, as well as Permits to Take Water (PTTW), Environmental Activity Sector Registry (EASR) approvals, and Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECA).
Ms. Maharaj has a unique depth of experience in working with Toronto Water Environmental Monitoring and Protection Unit and other regulatory agencies to assist developers, condominium boards, and property managers in ensuring all permits and environmental requirements are met throughout the duration of construction and over the lifetime of the building.
